It May Take Several Weeks For Your New Website To Be Indexed By Major Search Engines Like Google, Yahoo and MSN Live Search.
Offering several website solutions, perfect for DJ's:
A new website can be tough for the client and designer, since it's during this time the client becomes more familiar with Internet Marketing, website creation, learns all sorts of new nomenclature like "URL", "Domain", "SEO", "Site", "Pages", etc.
I understand that much of what I say, or the answers to questions I provide can be a bit overwhelming at first, but it gets easier and the fruits of your investment will begin to show fairly soon. I certainly appreciate your patience and your business.
I will try to address some commonly asked questions that my clients often have about their new websites:
HOW SOON CAN I FIND MY SITE ONLINE? It does take time for new sites to be crawled, ranked for relevance, etc. This can occur as quickly as a few weeks, but a site does not reach maturity for several years. The longer a site is on the web, and the more traffic and clicks it gets, the better it does. A general rule of thumb based on my experience, is that new sites are usually indexed by search engines in roughly several days to several weeks. That means that pretty soon you'll be able to type your new URL (domain name / www.), into a search engine like Google, Yahoo or MSN and it will show up in their listings. It typically takes several weeks to several months for your new site to begin showing up as relevant for "on-topic" search phrases in their search results.
WHAT CAN I DO TO SHOW UP ON SEARCHES QUICKER? Since the process above is out of our control and does take time, there are some ways to get visitors to your site quicker. Some free ways to get some extra traffic are: Include your website address in your email signature. Post messages that include your URL at on-topic forums and blogs. Post classified ads with your URL at on-topic vertical directories. Post classified ads with your URL at general directories. Post your business information at local directories.
HOW CAN I GET MY SITE TRAFFIC RIGHT AWAY? There are a number of places to buy additional advertising and things you can pay for to help your site get noticed. The quickest and easiest is to establish Pay Per Click Accounts at Google Adwords, Yahoo Sponsored Search and others, which will give you almost immediate exposure in their "sponsored listings". You can also buy high quality advertising at on-topic vertical directories. You can invest in advertising at websites where your potential clients visit. You can invest in 3rd party services which provide additional traffic avenues.
CAN I PAY FOR BETTER SEARCH EXPOSURE? Yes, there are several but typically if you've already taken advantage of the above items you have made major head-way and not much else will be needed. The things that can pay for to help long term exposure, but which are a little more vague in terms of ROI, are: Join a reciprocal linking solution. Purchase SEO services from specialists or firms which specialize in "White Hat SEO".
HOW DO I KNOW IF MY WEBSITE GETS TRAFFIC? It is possible to track your website visitor usage, with a third party website analytics or reporting service. This helps you see where people are coming to your site from, how long they stayed, etc. Tracking your traffic and site usage can help you gauge it's reach and let you know how people found your site.
HOW CAN I TELL IF MY SITE IS PRODUCING RESULTS? A website provides exposure to those who might be searching for products or services like yours online. A website is a form of passive or indirect marketing. It's important that when people do contact you, that you ask them "how" they found your contact information. Even if they say they found your website, or they are at your website, what brought them to the website? Did they do a Google search and find it in the organic listings? Did they find your sponsored pay per click ad? Did they find your site link at another website? Advertising online holds innumerable intangible benefits as well. Even if a customer does not robotically land at your website and purchase something, does not mean it's not doing some good. Many times people search for a website simply to determine the validity or reputation of a company. They might have your business card in their hand, but before they call they check to see if there's anything negative about your company online. Or they may just want to check out your site to see if you look professional and trustworthy.
WILL MY WEBSITE HELP ME BOOK GIGS? Only you can book gigs. A website can help you get found and provide contacts from clients. Based on the intangible nature of marketing, it is my best advice to simply make the absolute most of every single contact you get. Read books on sales techniques and customer service. Go to seminars. Talk to others in your field and see what works for them. Whatever it takes to become a good salesman, do it... Like it or not, when you are in business you are many things including a salesman, a customer service agent, a manager, an accountant, a marketer. So, if the phone rings, ANSWER it, do not let it go to voicemail. Check your email often. You might get sick of getting 500 spam messages a day, but you'll still need to be ready to respond to an email at a moments notice when it does come.
Will My Site Nail Specific Search Phrases?
The search phrases that your site will appear as relevant is based entirely on the topic of site and how it is constructed and what type of user that infoamtion targets... What I do is called "Whitehat SEO", which is different than "BlackHat SEO" and "SEM - Search Engine Marketing". Read More >
