When starting a website layout, I will either build from scratch or use website templates to begin with. If you see a template you would like to use, let me know.

While the ultimate freedom of creativity exists when building a website layout from a blank page, often times it's possible to find an existing professional template to use which only needs to be customized, or mimicked. Because website design relies partly on artistic creativity, it often helps to at least look at templates, seeing what other designers have done, which then leads to creative inspiration! When looking for specific designs for DJ businesses, keep in mind that the graphics can often be changed. For example, if you find a design you really like, but the template theme is web hosting and has pictures of PCs, Servers and Cables, don't worry... If you like it, there is a good chance that the graphics and pictures can be modified to fit your needs.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT TEMPLATES: A template is designed to be downloaded, (usually as a .zip file), then uncompressed and the files moved into your defined website structure. If I am creating your site, you don't need to worry about the technical details.

COPYRIGHTS AND WEBSITE TEMPLATES: A template, (in the terms we are using here, as a starting point layout design that can be downloaded for free or for a price), is designed by a website template layout artist typically, and then they are offered publicly for free download or for sale in one of two ways. When purchasing a Premium website template there are two available options. You can either purchase the license to use the template for your website, (typically $25 - $150), or you can purchase exclusive rights license for the template design, (usually $2500 - $3500). The difference is, that the single use license is available repeatedly to any taker... There could be 5, 10, 100 or a 1000+ websites out there which used the same design. The only way to prevent this is to actually purchase full exclusive rights from the template designer or owner. The elements used in that design may or may not become your property. Things like photos, artwork and logos may be protected separately and therefore if you want FULL rights, you may have to purchase license or ownership from the photographers, artist's and others whose intellectual property is compiled into your website design. 

FREE TEMPLATES typically require a link, or credit statement due back to their designer. It is impossible to have exclusive rights to a free template and therefore a site designed from a Free Template, will never be your personal property, nor can it be claimed as yours, distributed, reproduced, etc. There might be millions of sites that share the same design.

Where to Find a Template for YOUR Website?

Here are several resources for both Free Templates and Premium Templates that I have found useful:

• DJ Website Templates - This is my "Template Monster" affiliate site. There are over 10,000 templates here and they are organized and searchable. Except for one isolated free template download, these are all Premium Templates, (which means they have a price tag). I also have a link to several pre selected designs which could be good for DJ Websites. If you purchase one of these templates I do get a small commission which I appreciate.
• Disc Jockey Templates - These templates were made to help disc jockeys enhance their image. Many disc jockeys are in the process of raising their rates and this is just another way for them to show their "niche" in the various events that they are involved with. Currently, Disc Jockey Templates has about 20-25 templates to start off with just to test the waters and will continue to add a lot more if their is a demand. These templates have been priced so that they are more expensive than other website templates. Included with a Disc Jockey Template is a 300 mile lifetime protected territory.
• Free Templates Providers - The Richest Selection of Free Web Templates. This is a site with links to the most popular free website template providers. The links generally take you directly to the free template section of each respective site, but most of the site will also have premium templates, (the kind you pay for), as well. My advice is to stick to templates that say they are for HTML for Dreamweaver and which are non-Flash, or offer both an HTML version in addition to the Flash Version. Those designs which are tagged as CSS I would proceed with caution, because many of them are built with bloated code and are very slow loading. Look for special notes of interest, such as "W3C Compliant" or "XHTML Strict", which are the most up to date template designs.
• Dreamweaver Templates - The Dreamweaver Templates Resource is a reviewed listing of high quality website template companies. These companies produce professional templates for webmasters. You can find free Dreamweaver templates and Premium Dreamweaver templates here. Again, try to steer clear of Flash Templates and CSS Templates. The best templates and most flexible are the HTML/CSS variety or those with special emphasis that they are W3C Compliant or XHTML Strict.
• Net Objects Fusion Templates - Get website templates for NetObjects Fusion. Professionally-designed multi-page websites with Photoshop™ source files included. If you use Fusion, or if you want me to design a site for you based on one of the Fusion Templates, I can do this. The NetObjects Website Building Software is known to be easier that Dreamweaver and something that someone with moderate computer skills could probably work with. They also offer a free version of their software you can use to update your own site after I build it.
• Homestead Templates - This link leads to Homestead's Design Gallery and indicates that "These are nine of our 2,000 website templates (and our professional designers keep creating more). After signing up for the free trial you'll be able to see all 2,000 templates, pick one, and customize it." Personally I have visited this page many times and I can browse all the Homestead Templates, so my advice would be not to be bullied or rushed into the Free Trial to See All Template Designs. Keep in mind that what Homestead has are really not templates in the traditional sense and cannot be used anywhere with any website building software. These are actually "QuickSite Designs" which are specially created websites that can be modified using Homestead SiteBuilder.
• EZDJWebsite Templates - ProDJ Publishing's EZDJWebsite Solution is based on a hosted WYSIWYG editor which employs several templates. The templates are very basic and can be spiced up and the site customized during the website building process. While not quite as robust or flexible as the other website building solutions, this is an excellent package for many reasons. that I have listed in the description of my EZDJWebsites Design and Setup Service Offering.
