EZDJWEBSITE PROS

The EZDJWebsites solution is a winner in my book. I've done an example site aptly named EZ DJ SITE and really like the way it turned out. It started showing up in search engines quickly and even though it's just a drone site, designed to show what an EZ DJ Site is, party planning clients don't realize it and I get leads coming through quite often that I just send out to DJs in my network.

Perhaps the thing that I like the most about this solution, is that it's got everything I need as a designer to put together a nice presentable site, with the all important aspects necessary for search engine tuning like naming pages, title tags, meta tags, keywords, alt tags and more. It's simplicity and pre-designated layouts kept my mind focused at the task at hand instead of straying outside the box too much and trying 50 different places to put navigation and so on.

I'm one of those people that gets a little overwhelmed at too many options and flexibility, so the sparse selection of templates and graphics was actually a blessing in my opinion, because as a designer I spend so much time starting with blank pages, completely having to design everything from scratch. By contrast the EZ DJ Website Builder forced me to have an immediate direction to take and then spend more of my efforts on spicing up the site with more images and elements which was actually a lot of fun. It also allows direct access to the HTML code, so there is no problem getting really involved... Just that everything was simpler because there was less... If that makes any sense! I guess that I would sum it up like this, that even though there are only a handful of templates and images to choose from, they provide a nice palate to work from, (sort of like you can make all sorts of colors from just red, blue yellow). Don't be fooled by the limited number of templates and included pictures. I can do a lot with those and really make sites individually unique.

The other thing that's great about this product is that you don't have to worry about how different browsers will display the site, which is the case with the homestead site builder.

 

EZDJWEBSITE CONS

In my opinion the only cons are ones that can be overcome easily. Things like the sign-up process, which is very confusing, (I can do this for you if you're using me to setup your EZDJWebsite), and the fact that you need to wait for staff at EZDJ to activate the site, which may take a few days. You also need to have a domain name. The domain name you use needs to be directed to EZDJWebsites using the DNS Settings at your domain registrar as well, so doing it yourself can be confusing, but if you use me to setup the site, I do that for you.

The only other drawback would be that I did not notice anyway to check traffic statistics. Perhaps if you email the support staff they can give you log files, but aside from that daunting proposition I would recommend using a 3rd party tracking system so that you could login to an account and see how many people have visited your site and how they got there. There are many available to choose from. One which I used (because it's an included feature of homestead sites), is RealTracker which does a nice job of giving you accurate data about your site. A product like Real Tracker Web Analytics will need to be added into the html code which is java based and something I can do for you, then all you need to do is login to your realtracker account and look at the stats. ©2008 Todd Donald
